Consider any archeological dig and what will you find but vessels? Whether for food preparation and service, for holding a person’s keepsakes, or for displaying one’s favorite things, vessels will be among the site’s valuable “finds”. Vessels tell us about the people and the times in which they lived. What will today’s vessels say about us tomorrow?
C’ville Arts Cooperative Gallery is pleased to present the work of eleven member artists who are making today’s vessels. These modern-day vessels are made of glass, fiber, pottery, wood, paper, and polymer clay. Some are strictly decorative, others are completely functional, some are embellished with mixed media, and each represents an individual view of contemporary containers.
Artists participating in the show are Tanya Tyree, Diana Branscome, Jan Crowther, Barbara Albert, Amy Melville and John Schroll, Trina Player, Judith Ligon, Mary Ellen Larkins, Stephen Dalton and Virginia Gardner.
Stephen Dalton, Nostalgia (mixed media)
Virginia Gardner, vase with mosaic of iridescent tile and tempered glass pieces
